Superstar Rajinikanth has been admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai late Monday night, according to sources.
Although there has been no official confirmation about the same from the hospital or Rajinikanth’s family, it is learnt that the actor has an elective procedure scheduled for Tuesday. Hospital sources said the the 73-year-old superstar, who reportedly complained of stomach pain, was stable.
In 2020, Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad with ‘severe hypertension and exhaustion’. He was discharged on December 27 after his blood pressure got stabilised and was advised a week’s rest by doctors.
The actor is currently busy with the shooting of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie. Earlier on Monday, he met veteran filmmakers SP Muthuraman and AVM Saravanan, and the photos of this meeting had gone viral on social media.
Popularly known as “Thalaivar,” Rajinikanth is one of the most celebrated and influential actors in Indian cinema. He has had a prolific career spanning over four decades, with numerous iconic films to his credit, including Sivaji, Baasha, Enthiran (Robot), Annaatthe, Petta, Kaala, Darbar, and Kabali. His recent project, the action-comedy Jailer, released on August 9, 2023, quickly became one of the biggest hits of the year, reaffirming his status as a box office powerhouse.
