Superstar Rajinikanth, 73, has been making headlines for his upcoming films and his recent health update. The legendary actor was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Monday night, September 30, following complaints of severe stomach pain. However, in an unexpected twist, it was revealed that the actor had a swelling in his aorta — the main blood vessel leaving the heart.
But here’s the good news: Thalaivar is stable and recovering well after a successful endovascular repair.
The hospital’s senior interventional cardiologist, Dr. Sai Satish, performed a transcatheter procedure, where a stent was placed in the aorta, sealing off the swelling. The Apollo medical team confirmed that Rajinikanth’s condition is stable, and he is expected to be discharged within two days.
Fans across the globe are breathing a sigh of relief, with Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi sharing heartfelt wishes for the megastar’s swift recovery, “I stand with the millions of devoted fans of Thiru Rajinikanth in praying for his smooth recovery.”
While the superstar heals, the world of cinema isn’t far behind in giving fans something to look forward to. Rajinikanth has not one but two highly-anticipated movies lined up. The first is Coolie, directed by the talented Lokesh Kanagaraj, which has already sparked curiosity with its gold-tinged monochrome teaser. With music composed by Anirudh Ravichander and rumours of Sivakarthikeyan playing a significant role.
In addition to Coolie, Rajinikanth is set to star in Vettaiyan, a grand project featuring none other than Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, marking his Tamil debut! This film is directed by TJ Gnanavel and is expected to release on October 10. Joining the powerhouse duo is Malayalam star Manju Warrier, along with a stellar cast that includes Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Ritika Singh. The film’s soundtrack, especially the song “Manasilayo,” has already captured the internet’s attention, with Rajinikanth’s effortless dance moves being the talk of the town.
