Ranbir Kapoor’s First Look As Lord Ram Unveiled In ‘Ramayana’ Teaser

Date:

Mumbai: The teaser of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was released on Thursday on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, offering the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.

The visually rich two-minute teaser traces Ram’s journey from his coronation in Ayodhya to his exile in Panchavati, highlighting Kapoor’s composed and regal portrayal. It also features brief glimpses of Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Yash as Ravan.

Ahead of the release, Alia Bhatt shared a video message urging audiences to support the film, calling Ranbir Kapoor’s performance a “labour of love” and praising his portrayal as “absolutely fabulous.”

Scale And Budget

The film is mounted on an estimated budget of ₹4,000 crore (about $500 million for both parts), making it one of the most expensive Indian productions. Producer Namit Malhotra described it as “the largest film in the world for the greatest epic,” emphasising ambitious yet rooted storytelling.

The first part is scheduled for release during Diwali 2026, followed by the second instalment in Diwali 2027.

Music Collaboration

The project marks a first-time collaboration between AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, blending Indian musical traditions with global cinematic scoring. Rahman described the project as “terrifying,” citing its cultural significance and creative expectations.

Cast And Production

Alongside Kapoor, the film stars Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol and Yash, who also serves as co-producer. Tiwari said the narrative focuses on the emotional and moral journey of Ram, centred on choices and consequences.

Kapoor described the experience as “humbling,” adding that he drew inspiration from the simplicity and values associated with Lord Ram.

Positioned as India’s answer to large-scale global epics, Ramayana has generated significant buzz ahead of its release.
