RCB’s Open Bus Victory Parade Cancelled in Bengaluru Due to Traffic Concerns

Date:

After an 18-year-long wait, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally lifted their Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy in the 2025 season. While celebrations were expected among the RCB fans, the much-anticipated victory parade has been cancelled. Bengaluru Police denied permission for the open bus procession, due to potential traffic disruptions.

According to the revised schedule, the RCB team will be felicitated at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Prior to this, the players will be honoured at Vidhana Soudha by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced, “At 4 PM today, along with the Governor and members of my cabinet, I will honour the RCB players at Vidhana Soudha for their historic IPL win. The celebrations will continue at the stadium.”

What’s changed:
– Felicitation event: 5 pm–6 pm at M Chinnaswamy Stadium
– Access: Entry only with valid tickets or passes
– Victory parade: Cancelled due to traffic constraints
– Advisory: Public urged to avoid the Central Business District (CBD) from 3 pm–8 pm and use metro services due to limited parking

The team landed in Bengaluru from Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Captain Rajat Patidar and other squad members are scheduled to reach Vidhana Soudha by 4 PM. The grand steps of the Soudha will serve as the backdrop for the official state honour, led by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. A victory parade was originally planned post the ceremony but has now been called off due to logistical concerns.

The main felicitation ceremony at Chinnaswamy Stadium will begin at 5 PM. Entry will be restricted to those with valid passes or tickets. Authorities have urged attendees to use metro services and public transport due to limited parking spaces around the venue.
