The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have named Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant as their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Sanjiv Goenka, the franchise owner, was also present at the announcement, which was made on Monday.

Pant, who made headlines last year by becoming by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history, was acquired by LSG for a whopping Rs 27 crore at the IPL mega auction held in Jeddah in November. The record-breaking bid surpassed the Rs 26.75 crore spent by Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Shreyas Iyer just moments earlier.

Pant, who previously represented Delhi Capitals (DC) since his IPL debut in 2016, beings a wealth of experience and a proven track record. During his tenure at DC, Pant scored 3,284 runs at an impressive average of 35.31. The dynamic left-hander was also appointed as the team’s captain in 2021 and led them to playoffs in the same season.
