Mumbai Indians put up a clinical chase on Saturday night, comfortably defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets to register their fourth consecutive win in IPL 2025. Powered by a fluent 70 from Rohit Sharma and a blazing 40* from Suryakumar Yadav, MI cruised to the 174-run target in just 15.4 overs at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit continued his fine form with back-to-back half-centuries, anchoring the innings with a 46-ball 70 laced with eight boundaries and three sixes. He first stitched a solid 64-run stand with opener Will Jacks, who chipped in with a brisk 22 off 19 balls, and then built a 53-run partnership with Suryakumar to all but seal the game.
Suryakumar, in his signature flair, remained unbeaten on 40 off just 19 deliveries, hammering five fours and two sixes. Tilak Varma (2*) was at the crease alongside him when MI crossed the finish line with 26 balls to spare.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s bowling lacked the sting to defend the target. Eshan Malinga, Zeeshan Ansari, and Jaydev Unadkat managed to pick up a wicket apiece, but it was too little, too late.
With this dominant win, Mumbai Indians move up to third place in the points table with 10 points from nine games (five wins and four losses). Meanwhile, SRH’s struggles continue, sitting at ninth with just two wins from eight matches.
Earlier in the first innings, Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a forgettable outing with the bat, limping to a modest 143/8 in their IPL 2025 clash, despite a spirited recovery led by Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar.
