Royal Enfield, a brand known for its rich legacy of iconic motorcycles, is preparing to enter the electric mobility space with its first-ever electric motorcycle. The much-anticipated model will make its global debut at the EICMA 2024 show in Milan, Italy, on November 4.
In a recently released teaser video, Royal Enfield offered a glimpse of the upcoming e-motorcycle’s design, hinting at a fusion of the brand’s classic aesthetics with modern technology.
The teaser highlights several design elements that are quintessentially Royal Enfield. These include the signature round headlamp, retro-styled mirrors, alloy wheels, and a classic single seat. One of the standout features is the traditional teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a nod to the brand’s timeless design language, even though the bike will run on electricity.
As for technology, the electric bike is expected to feature a fully digital instrument cluster with EV-specific information. It will likely come equipped with a range of modern features, including turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and a suite of smart functionalities to cater to the needs of modern riders.
While technical details are still under wraps, it’s rumored that the bike will be powered by a 5 kWh battery paired with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). With power output expected to reach 50 PS and torque figures exceeding 100 Nm, the electric Royal Enfield is likely to deliver strong performance with a top speed of around 110-120 kph. Riders can expect a real-world range of over 150 kilometers on a full charge, making it a practical option for daily commuting and longer rides.
Although the official name has not yet been revealed, industry insiders speculate that the model may be called the Royal Enfield Classic Electric or perhaps a revival of the historic “Electra” nameplate. The unveiling in Milan will mark Royal Enfield’s first step into the electric motorcycle segment. More details will be announced at EICMA 2024, where the motorcycle is expected to take center stage.
