In a significant development in case of death threats to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, Mumbai police have apprehended a 32-year-old man, Bhikha Ram, from Karnataka’s Hubballi. The accused, who hails from Jalore in Rajasthan, was arrested for allegedly threatening Salman and demanding a hefty ransom. The accused also allegedly sought an apology from the actor at a Bishnoi community temple.
A police officer familiar with the case stated, “It appears that the accused sent the message for fun, and there seems to be no serious threat. However, we are still verifying his motive and conducting further investigations.”
After receiving a tip-off from the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the local police in Haveri apprehended him. “The accused was watching a regional news channel when he suddenly called the Mumbai Police control room to issue the threat. He claims to be a fan of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, but this claim is still under investigation,” said Anshu Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Haveri.
The police action was swift, and after his arrest, Ram was handed over to the Mumbai police for further interrogation. “A case has been registered against him at the Worli police station, and he will be produced before the court for a transit remand,” a police source said.
Salman Khan, who is currently busy filming for Bigg Boss 18 and his upcoming movie Sikandar, is reportedly unfazed by the threats.
The investigation is currently underway with Mumbai police looking into whether the accused acted alone or if others are involved in these threats targeting the actor.
