Mumbai: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration has issued show-cause notices to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff over their alleged involvement in advertisements promoting Vimal Pan Masala and Elaichi.
The actors have been directed to remove the promotional posts from their social media accounts within 15 days. The notices were issued in their capacity as “Actor/Brand Endorser”.
The FDA has warned that failure to follow the directions could lead to action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The notices refer to Section 24 of the law, which places restrictions on food-related advertising and prohibits misleading advertisements and certain unfair trade practices.
The Maharashtra FDA specifically raised concerns over the actors’ participation in promotional activities connected to the Vimal brand.
The notices now require the three actors to respond and comply with the directions within the specified 15-day period.
