Actor Shah Rukh Khan has taken the internet by storm after telling people to ‘Google’ him while accepting an award in Switzerland. King Khan was honored with the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera on Saturday, marking him as the first Indian to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Locarno Film Festival.
During the ceremony, Khan jokingly said, “For those who don’t know me, leave, Google me and then come back,” before introducing himself to the audience.
Google India’s official account on X responded by posting a crown emoji, symbolizing the actor’s status as ‘king,’ and tagged him in their message.
SRK also said, “Thank you all for welcoming me with such wide arms – wider than the ones I do on screen…I’ve been a villain, I’ve been a champ, I’ve been a superhero, I’ve been a zero, I’ve been a rejected fan, and I’ve been a very, very resilient lover.”
Videos of the actor singing his famous song from “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” at the festival have also gone viral. The footage captures the audience singing along with Khan.
The festival also featured a screening of Shah Rukh’s 2002 blockbuster “Devdas,” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Held annually in Switzerland, the Locarno Film Festival showcases hundreds of international independent films. The Pardo d’oro, or Golden Leopard, is its highest honor, awarded to the best film in the ‘Concorso internazionale.’
