Fans are buzzing with excitement as the release of “Stree 2,” featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, draws near. According to the reports, the movie has already secured over ₹37 lakh in advance ticket sales for its debut day. The reports state that 9731 tickets have been purchased for 2008 shows, contributing to a total of ₹37.58 lakh in revenue from Hindi screenings.
On Saturday, the filmmakers announced that advance bookings for Stree 2 are now open. The movie is set to hit theaters on August 14, the eve of Independence Day, with night showings starting at 9:30 pm, as per Maddock Films’ announcement on social media. The studio shared a poster of the film with the message: “Stree 2—Advance Booking Open Now.”
“Woh Stree hai, woh kuch bhi kar sakti hai (She is Stree, she can do anything)! Isilye woh aa rahi hai ek raat Pehle (So she is coming a night early), just for you. Stree 2, the legend returns on Independence Day eve, with night shows from 9:30 pm onwards on 14th August 2024,” the post continued.
The original Stree, which featured Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, was both a critical and commercial hit in 2018. The sequel brings back these beloved actors, continuing the story that was first set in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the original film revolved around an evil spirit named Stree, who kidnaps men during the festival season.
Stree 2 will face tough competition at the box office, with major films like Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, John Abraham’s Vedaa and Puri Jagannadh’s Double iSmart featuring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt, all set for release on Independence Day.
