Siraj, Kuldeep Shine In ICC Test Rankings As Bumrah Retains Top Spot

Date:

Indian cricket’s dominance in red-ball cricket continued to reflect in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings, with Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav making significant gains following their match-winning performance in the Ahmedabad Test against the West Indies.

The hosts registered a resounding innings-and-140-run victory inside three days at the Narendra Modi Stadium, strengthening their position in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Bumrah Leads, Siraj Climbs to Career-Best Mark

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah maintained his stronghold as the world’s No. 1 Test bowler, further extending his lead atop the rankings. Bumrah, who picked up three wickets in the Ahmedabad Test, continues to be the benchmark for consistency and control in world cricket.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj’s fiery spell earned him a massive reward — a three-place jump to 12th position, his highest career ranking to date. The right-arm pacer scalped seven wickets across the two innings, showcasing his ability to extract movement and bounce even on subcontinent surfaces. His recent surge underlines his evolution into one of India’s most reliable new-ball bowlers.

Kuldeep’s Rise

India’s spin department also saw success in the latest rankings update. Kuldeep Yadav climbed seven spots to reach joint 21st place, following a four-wicket haul in the match. His variations and control over flight and pace proved decisive, adding a crucial dimension to India’s bowling attack.

The left-arm wrist spinner’s progress reflects India’s enviable depth in spin options, complementing stalwarts like Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, both of whom continue to be mainstays in the team’s Test setup.

Jadeja, Rahul Make Gains

The batting charts also brought more good news for India. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja surged six places to 25th, marking a career-high rating after his unbeaten century in the first Test. Jadeja’s dual contribution with bat and ball once again highlighted his status as one of the finest all-rounders in modern cricket.

KL Rahul, who also struck a century in the same Test, moved up four spots to 35th, reinforcing his growing reliability in the middle order. Despite these climbs, England’s Joe Root continues to command a significant lead as the No. 1-ranked Test batter in the world.

In the Test all-rounder rankings, Jadeja further consolidated his position at the top, widening the gap over his nearest competitors. His consistent performances with both bat and ball have made him indispensable to India’s Test ambitions.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar continued his quiet but steady rise, moving four places to 11th, narrowly missing a spot inside the top 10.
