Dambulla: Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant half-century, coupled with impressive bowling spells by Renuka Singh Thakur and Radha Yadav, propelled India to the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 with a resounding 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh on Friday at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
India’s opening pair came out aggressively from the first over. Smriti Mandhana started the assault, effortlessly finding the boundary on the fourth ball of the opening over. Shafali Verma soon joined in, showcasing her powerful stroke play by hitting boundaries with ease.
Nigar Sultana and Shorna Akter were the only Bangladeshi batters to reach double digits, and Radha Yadav capped off the innings with a double-wicket maiden, restricting Bangladesh to 80/8.
