The film has surpassed the opening day collections of 2023’s major hits, Animal and Pathaan, which made Rs 63.8 crore and Rs 57 crore respectively.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is now the biggest Hindi opener of the year, surpassing the previous record held by the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-starrer Fighter, which made Rs 24.6 crore on its opening day in January. While Stree 2 leads the pack in Hindi cinema, the biggest Indian opener of the year remains Kalki 2898 AD, which grossed Rs 95 crore on its opening day across multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
Stree 2 faced competition at the box office from John Abraham’s Vedaa and the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein. However, neither film could match the success of Stree 2. Vedaa, released in Tamil and Telugu as well, managed to earn Rs 6.52 crore across India, while Khel Khel Mein brought in only Rs 5 crore.
