Mumbai: Producer Dinesh Vijan has confirmed that Stree 3 will now hit theatres in 2028, pushing the release from its earlier August 13, 2027 schedule.
Speaking at FICCI Frames 2026, Vijan said director Amar Kaushik will first complete Mahavatar, based on the story of Bhagwan Parshuram.
Kaushik is expected to begin shooting the film in January and wrap it up by June, following which work on Stree 3 will begin.
The film could arrive around Independence Day or Christmas in 2028, though the makers have not announced an exact release date yet.
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are expected to reprise their roles in the third chapter. Akshay Kumar, whose character was introduced in Stree 2, is also expected to return, potentially with a bigger role.
Vijan revealed that the script for Stree 3 is already complete and teased a major surprise for audiences. He said, “Anything that you’ve thought of, remove it from your mind,” while indicating that viewers should not assume they know the direction of the story.
He added that the film will retain the franchise’s popular elements, but its beginning and ending will be “a complete revelation”.
