T20 World Cup 2024: How Will St Lucia’s Weather Impact Ind vs Aus Super 8 Match

Date:

Saint Lucia: India will face the mighty Australians in their last Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup on Monday. With England and South Africa sealing their spots in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup, all eyes are on Group 1 is down to the last two matches.

Four teams from Group 1 are still in contention for making it to the semi-finals. Besides the team’s performance, there is one other factor which will make or break the chance of qualifying for the semis is the weather. As per a Times Of India (TOI) report, the first of the two remaining matches in Group 1 is India vs Australia on Monday at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet in St. Lucia.

As per the TOI report, the game is set to begin at 10:30 AM (local time), which is 8 PM in India. Cloud cover is predicted to persist during the whole duration of the game in St. Lucia. Monday morning in St. Lucia is expected to be “partly sunny” with an 85% cloud cover and “a thunderstorm in parts of the area,” according to accuweather.com. It will also be “windy.” As the day progresses into the afternoon, when the cloud cover is predicted to drop to 47%, that outlook will get better.

Tricky weather is in store on Monday for the Ind vs Australia T20 match. The Indian team has remained unbeaten in the group stage as well as the Super 8 stage till now. India is currently on 4 points and a net run rate of +2.425 and is the leading contender to qualify for the semi-finals. If Australia lose to India in today’s game, they will be knocked out of the tournament and in the other match if Afghanistan beats Bangladesh then they will join India in the semi-final.

What Will Happen If India Vs Australia Gets Washed Out?

If the Ind vs Australia game washes out then without a result then the mighty Kangaroos will end up with 3 points. The current ODI champions will then want the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh match to be washed out or end in Bangladesh’s favour.

In case both games do not produce any results, Australia will edge past Afghanistan due to a superior net run rate and a defeat against Bangladesh would leave the Afghans exiting the tournament with two points as compared to Australia’s three.

In group 2 defending champions England and the Proteas are through to the semi-finals with the South Africans topping the group with six points and the English in the second position with four points. USA and West Indies the hosts have been eliminated from the tournament as per TOI.
