If you’re planning to buy a new hatchback then Tata Motors has come up with an option as the company has launched its premium hatchback Altroz on Wednesday with a price tag of ₹5.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
Altroz has been launched in five different variants with petrol and diesel engine.
Based on Tata Motors’ ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced), Altroz has been given some sharper looks with an arrow-head like front grille and sweeping headlights with DRLs.
As far as performance is concerned, the buyers get two engine options to choose from – a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine (84 hp and 114 Nm) and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel motor (89 hp and 200 Nm – peak power and torque). Both engines will meet the BS 6 emission norms that will kick in from April 1.

Altroz gets ambient lighting, seven-inch infotainment system, cruise control, six-speaker Harman sound unit and brand new steering. The car sits on 16-inch alloys.
Starting from ₹5.29 lakh, the top-end model in petrol – the XZ(O) variant will cost ₹7.69 lakh (Ex-showroom), the diesel top-end will cost ₹9.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Pre-launch bookings have been open for some time at a down payment of ₹21,000.
Altroz will give a tough competition to existing hatchbacks such as Maruti’s Baleno, Ford Figo and Hyundai’s Elite i20.
