Top places to experience snow fall in Himachal Pradesh right now


With the changing weather and constant dip in the temperature, its time to get out of the normal routine and make plans to travel. Various places in India are covered in a thick blanket of snow which makes it the best time to make travel plans and experience the snow.

There is more snowfall in store for places like Manali, Simla and Kufri in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. In case you already have experienced the most conventional and traditional places, you can try some off beat spots around the area to watch the beauty of the nature in its true glory.


Kalpa – Kalpa, in Kinnaur district, is a town with ancient temples. It is a bustling little town in the way to Reckong Peo with almost all facilities like post office, hospital, shops and small restaurants. There are many small guest houses inside the village offering rooms. The main attractions include Narayan-Nagini temple and Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar monastery.

Lahaul Spiti – Lahaul and Spiti Valley lies northwards of the Pir Panjal ranges and the topography, monasteries and the local culture carries a flavour of Leh Ladakh. The landscape is drastically different when you travel towards Lahual Spiti, which is an amazing vista of bare, brown mountains, hanging glaciers and snowfields that dazzle in the crisp light. The tough terrain here is the main reason behind its virginal landscapes and simple lifestyles. The winters last from November to April with heavy snowfall and a time to explore another kind of terrain which is worth a visit.


Narkanda –  Narkanda in a town in Simla and is perfect for winters as it is known as a skiing resort. It connects Shimla with Rampur and a detour also goes to Thanedhar. One is constantly treated to a bird’s-eye view of the different valleys as the road twists and turns from one spur to another. The breathtaking view en-route Fagu is one of the most likely places to travel from Narkanda.
