Trump Says Iran Keen On Deal, Urges Critics To ‘Sit Back and Relax’

Date:

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Monday expressed confidence that Iran is willing to reach an agreement with the United States, describing the potential deal as beneficial for Washington and its allies, while criticising political opponents for what he called interference in the negotiation process.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Iran was eager to strike a deal and urged critics from both the Democratic Party and within Republican ranks to stop publicly commenting on the negotiations.

“Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us,” Trump wrote.

The US President accused his political opponents of making negotiations more difficult through constant public scrutiny and conflicting demands over the pace and direction of diplomacy.

“But don’t the Dumocrats, and various seemingly unpatriotic Republicans, understand that it is much tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate, when political hacks keep negatively chirping,” Trump said, referring to calls for him to either accelerate negotiations, slow them down, or pursue military action.

He urged patience, adding, “Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end, it always does.”

Trump’s remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue to secure an agreement aimed at extending a ceasefire and reducing tensions in West Asia. According to reports, the latest draft proposal includes a 60-day cessation of hostilities, measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping, and a framework for resuming discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme.

However, no formal agreement has yet been announced, and key issues remain unresolved.

A high-level meeting held at the White House on Friday to reach what Trump had earlier described as a “final determination” reportedly concluded without a definitive decision.

The proposed arrangement has emerged amid heightened regional tensions and concerns over global energy supplies, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical maritime route for international oil and gas shipments.
