Turbocharging Delhi-NCR’s startup ecosystem: TiE report

TiE Delhi-NCR is a global non-profit established in Silicon Valley in 1992. It is spread across a vast network of 61 chapters in 14 countries with a mission of fostering entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, incubation and funding.

The capital has a thriving ecosystem with over 7000 start-ups, 10 Unicorns and a cumulative valuation of $50 Billion.

Delhi-NCR has the largest number of active start-ups in India with 7000+ start-ups been founded between 2009 and 2019 and 23% of share among all start-ups in India. It also has the most number of unicorns with a market value of $46-56 Billion.

The measures to turbocharge the startup ecosystem can be done in three dimensions: build world-Class affordable start-up hubs, Significantly increase the seed and early-stage investment and improve the quality of incubators and accelerators.

While the three most valued listed internet companies are Infoedge, makemytrip, indiamart, all of them are placed in Delhi-NCR.

With appropriate interventions, it will become one of the top 5 global start-up hubs with 12000 start-ups, 30 Unicorns and cumulative valuation of $150 Billion by 2025.
