Ulajh made ₹60 lakh nett on its debut Monday, the lowest single-day earnings to yet, according to Sacnilk.com. With this, the movie has now earned almost ₹5.5 crore domestically. The first day’s revenue was a meager ₹1.15 crore, rising to ₹1.75 crore on the second day and reaching a peak of ₹2 crore on the third. Concerns have been expressed regarding the movie’s viability at the box office due to the sharp decline on day 4.
Compounding Ulajh’s troubles is its box office clash with Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, starring Ajay Devgn. Despite high expectations, Devgn’s film also struggled, collecting around ₹7 crore nett in four days. Both films have failed to generate the buzz needed for a sustained box office run, especially with the looming big releases for Independence Day like Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa.
Directed by Sudhanshu Saria and co-starring Gulshan Devaiah, Ulajh showcases Janhvi Kapoor in an action-packed role that critics have praised. Kapoor, known for her versatility, gave her all in, even if the film’s box office numbers don’t do it justice.
