Sprinting icon and eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt is set to return to India this year from September 26 to 28, with Delhi and Mumbai included in his itinerary. This marks the Jamaican legend’s second visit to the country, nearly a decade after his first trip in 2014.
Bolt, who retired from competitive athletics in 2017, remains one of the most recognized figures in global sport. Speaking ahead of his upcoming tour, Bolt shared his excitement about the visit. “I am excited to return to India. The energy, the people and the passion for sports here is truly unmatched. I have a lot of fans in India and am really looking forward to my visit later this year,” he was quoted as saying by Olympics.com.
Unlike his first trip—where he famously played a cricket match alongside Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium—this time, Bolt’s visit will focus on promotional activities, fan interactions, and cultural events across the two metro cities.
The highlight of the visit will be the finale of a nationwide sprint challenge for school students, where Bolt himself will be present to witness and inspire the young athletes. The initiative aims to promote grassroots athletics and encourage youth participation in sports across India.
Bolt’s previous visit in 2014 created memorable moments, including a light-hearted 100m dash and cricket session with Yuvraj. Now, with another tour on the cards, fans can expect a mix of inspiration, celebration, and high-octane engagement from the fastest man in history.
Bolt still holds the world records in the 100m (9.58s), 200m (19.19s), and 4x100m relay (36.84s)—records that remain untouched since his prime. His accolades also include 11 World Championship golds among a total of 13 medals, solidifying his status as a global sporting legend.
