Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Bad Newz’ Beats Uri To Become His Career’s Biggest Opening

Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Tauba Tauba’ magic seems to be have worked in the films favour as thousands of film buffs thronged to their nearby theatres to watch his latest film ‘Bad Newz’.

The Vicky Kaushal, Ammy Virk, Triptii Dimri has made a strong opening at the Box Office and made an impressive Rs 8.5 crore on Day 1. ‘Bad Newz’ is Kaushal’s best solo opening till date, surpassing the previous records held by his film ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike.’

Directed by Anand Tiwari, and co-produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Amritpal Singh Bindra, witnessed an occupancy rate of 22.83 per cent across Hindi screenings on its first day.

Bad Newz had 835 shows in Mumbai, and the occupancy rate was at 20.75%. With 1054 shows, the occupancy rate in the Delhi-NCR region was 26%.

According to reports, Bad Newz is Bollywood’s fifth-highest opening-day grosser this year and it has outperformed Dharma Productions’ last two releases Mr. & Mrs. Mahi (₹6.75 crore) and Kill (₹1.25 crore) at the box office.

The film is based on heteropaternal superfecundation where Triptii Dimri’s character ‘Saloni Bagga’ gets pregnant with twins from two different men played by Vicky Kaushal and Amy Virk.

It also stars Sheeba Chaddha and Neha Dhupia in pivotal roles, while special cameos by Neha Sharma and Ananya Pandey.
