]The much-anticipated action entertainer War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, has delivered a powerful start at the box office, crossing the ₹100 crore mark in just two days of release. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film hit theatres on August 14 and has benefitted immensely from the Independence Day holiday boost.
On its opening day, the Hindi version alone collected ₹29 crore, while the total across all languages stood at ₹51.5 crore, thanks to the strong pull of the Telugu version driven by Jr NTR’s massive fanbase. The film saw mixed reviews on day one, but audiences still turned up in large numbers on Independence Day, leading to a sharp spike in earnings.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, War 2 earned approximately ₹56.5 crore (India net) on Day 2 across all languages — an almost 10% jump from its opening day. With this, the film’s total domestic collection has crossed ₹108 crore in just 48 hours.
The Hindi version alone brought in around ₹40–45 crore on Independence Day, pushing its two-day total to nearly ₹73 crore. The film also recorded an overall occupancy rate of 51.52% on Day 2. Morning shows started on a modest note with 27.16% occupancy, but numbers picked up significantly as the day progressed, peaking at nearly 64% in the evening before settling at 56.36% for night shows.
Despite mixed audience reviews online, War 2 has shown strong box office momentum. With a long weekend ahead and the backing of two massive stars from Bollywood and Tollywood, the film is likely to continue its upward trend and post impressive numbers in its first week.
