As the Middle East reels under the conflict between Israel and Iran, NewsMobile Editor-in-Chief Saurabh Shukla has raised serious concerns about China’s covert role in fuelling tensions in the Middle East. Shukla accused Beijing of being the “biggest peddler of wars” and profiting from regional instability while posturing as a peace broker.
“China today is one of the biggest bullies in town. At least they try to be. Ask countries in the Indo-Pacific, ask nations that share borders with China — they’re all being coerced or bullied,” Shukla remarked. He pointed out that China’s influence has extended to supplying Pakistan with low-cost fighter jets, developed using stolen technology, which proved ineffective during critical military engagements. “India didn’t lose the air-fire war — Pakistan did, thanks to cheap Chinese jets,” he said.
Turning his focus to the ongoing Middle East tensions, Shukla alleged that China had initially egged Iran on, only to abandon it when the tide turned against Tehran following a decisive U.S. military action. “China left Iran in the lurch. That’s the Chinese philosophy — provoke, profit, and pull back. They want others to bleed while they broker trade deals,” he noted.
He further emphasized China’s pattern of exploiting vulnerable nations. “Ask countries in Africa, ask Latin America — they’ll tell you how China enters under the guise of economic cooperation but ends up exploiting resources and sowing discord. It’s a well-calculated game to keep the world engaged in conflict while China profits in peace.”
Shukla also criticized China’s duplicity on the global stage, claiming that its pattern of betrayal has not gone unnoticed. “Even Iran and Russia have begun to see through the charade. China is not a reliable partner — it’s a trader masquerading as a superpower,” he said, adding that Beijing’s attempts to position itself as a peacemaker are thinly veiled tactics to expand influence and sell goods.
