A major outage hit X (formerly Twitter), the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, on Tuesday evening, abruptly cutting off access for users across India. The disruption, which affected both the website and the mobile apps, left many unable to load timelines, open profiles, or even log into their accounts.
The disruption hit both the web version and the mobile applications simultaneously, causing frustration among users who turned to other platforms to confirm the issue. Downdetector, a website that tracks real-time service outages, recorded a sharp spike in complaints from across the country, signalling that the outage was not confined to any single state or city.
For some, the platform simply refused to load, others encountered repeated error screens, frozen feeds, or non-responsive app functions.
