Actor Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s marriage has been the talk of the town since they got married last month. The couple, who had been dating for seven years, chose to have a civil marriage ceremony on June 23, followed by a star-studded reception in Mumbai. Despite the glamorous celebration, the couple initially had a very different plan for their wedding.
In a recent interview, Zaheer Iqbal revealed his initial plan was to “elope” with Sonakshi. “I wanted to elope… just bounce to the country and go somewhere, get married, and come back,” Zaheer said. However, he soon discovered that such a wedding wouldn’t be legally recognized in India. “I got to know that wedding is not valid in India… like you can’t go to Las Vegas and get married, it is not allowed,” he stated.
Adding to this, Sonakshi said, “I always wanted a very intimate wedding. And he (Zaheer) is okay as long as his most important people are there, which is our friends and family that were present at the signing.”
The couple exchanged vows in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s residence in Mumbai, surrounded by close friends and family. The celebration continued with a lavish reception at Bastian, a popular restaurant in Mumbai. The event was attended by notable figures from the film industry.
