Popular stand-up comedian Zakir Khan has revealed that he will be stepping away from the comedy circuit for an extended period, citing health concerns and personal priorities. The announcement comes while the comedian is in the middle of touring multiple cities with his stand-up special Papa Yaar.
Zakir made the revelation during his recent performance in Hyderabad, where he told the audience that he plans to stay away from the limelight for several years. According to the comedian, the break could last anywhere between three to five years, potentially extending until 2028, 2029, or even 2030.
“I’m going on a long, long break,” Zakir said during the show, in a video that has since gone viral on social media. “It will be a break of three, four, or five years to take care of my health and to sort out a few other things.”
Soon after, Zakir further hinted at his hiatus through an Instagram story. Sharing a photo of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, he suggested that June 20 could mark his final performance before the break. In the post, he urged fans to attend his upcoming shows, describing each one as a celebration.
“Every show is a celebration till June 20. I won’t be able to come to many cities this time, so please make a little extra effort and come to the shows. Thank you for all the love,” he wrote.

This is not the first time Zakir has spoken openly about his health. Last year, the comedian disclosed that he had been unwell for over a year but continued to work as he felt it was necessary at the time.
Zakir Khan, known for his relatable storytelling and deeply personal humor, has built a massive following over the years. While the news of his break has left fans disappointed, many have taken to social media to express their support, wishing him good health and a strong return when he is ready.
