A video showing fireworks and lightning happening all over the city has gone viral, claiming that Lebanon attacks Israel.
A Facebook user shared this video and wrote: “Balatkari modi ke andhbhakto ko ek baar firse Lebanon ki taraf se happy diwali in advance. Andhbhakto diwali ki shubhkamnaye aise hi ab milte rahenge ab hamari bari suru ho gai mubarak dene ki.”

NewMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false.
Observing the video carefully, the NM team found TikTok username (@ramiguerfi41), visible at the bottom right of viral video. Since TikTok is banned in India, we used a virtual private network (VPN) to access the account. However, we did not find the video on this account. Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, our team identified a reply tweet mentioning that the viral video was uploaded by Ram Ramos (@ramiguerfi41) on September 28. It is to be noted that the current escalation began onOctober 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel.

Searching further, we came across multiple tweets indicating that the video was filmed in Algeria where football fans celebrated with fireworks.

Also, our team identified a YouTube page of CR Belouizdad Football Club, uploaded on July 19, showing a celebration of the 61st anniversary of CRBelouizdad and the 10th Algerian championship. The video had similar red flares and firecrackers as seen in the viral video.
Thus, it is confirmed that the viral video is old and related to Algeria. It has nothing to do with the ongoing Lebanon-Iran conflict.
