Searching with relevant keywords, the NM team detected a video report on ABP News official YouTube channel, dated August 1, 2023, stating that the lathicharge occurred on July 30, 2023, during the Kanwar Yatra in Mohalla Jogi Nawada of Purana Shahar of Bareilly.
A News 18 report, dated July 30, 2023, explains that the incident in Nawada was triggered by objections from the Muslim community to the Kanwar Yatra passing through their area. The situation escalated, resulting in a lathi charge by the police to control the confrontation.
A Dainik Jagran report, dated July 31, 2023, mentions that SSP Prabhakar Choudhary was transferred following the incident, and two FIRs were registered.
