A video of a bus falling into a ravine is doing the rounds on social media, claiming that it is from Meghalaya. The post claimed that the driver of the bus got down for tea and forgot to pull the handbrake, which result in an accident.
The post reads: मेघालय : ड्राइवर चाय पीने के लिए गया,बस का इंजन चालू था, वह हैंड ब्रेक लगाना भूल गया,फिर क्या बस पास की खाई में जा गिरी (English translation: Meghalaya: The driver went to drink tea, the engine of the bus was on, he forgot to apply the handbrake, then the bus fell into a nearby ditch)

Putting the key frames through Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on YouTube, dated May 8, 2023. The title reads that the video is from Indonesia.
As per the video description, ‘a bus carrying 50 people plunged into a river in Indonesia’s Central Java province, leaving one dead and 30 others wounded. The accident was allegedly caused by a brake failure’.
On searching further, we found multiple news reports stating the incident took place on May 7 in the city of Tegal in the Central Java province of Indonesia. As per the report, the bus was taking 50 tourists from South Tangerang City towards Guchi. The incident took place when the driver and some passengers got off at one of the stops midway.
It was speculated that the cause of the accident was an unattended child in the bus playing with the handbrake and accidentally releasing it. However, officials said that the investigation is underway and the cause of the accident is unknown.
Thus, from the above information, it is clear that the video is not from India.
