‘Fighter’ Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone Banned In Gulf, Except UAE

Date:

Mumbai: Days before its grand release, the movie ‘Fighter,’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, appears to face a ban in Gulf countries, excluding the UAE. Producer-film expert Girish Johar and trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai have revealed that the film won’t be released in any Gulf country as of now, and the reason behind the ban remains unknown.

Leading up to the release, the makers of ‘Fighter’ have been promoting the film, unveiling a behind-the-scenes video on January 23.

On the same day, producer Girish Johar and trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai confirmed on their respective social media pages that ‘Fighter’ has been officially banned in all Gulf countries except the UAE. Johar mentioned that the film will still release in the UAE with a PG 15 classification. However, an official confirmation from the makers regarding the ban is still pending.

Not only ‘Fighter,’ but several other films like Mammootty’s ‘Kaathal – The Core,’ Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Beast,’ ‘Sita Ramam,’ Tamil film ‘FIR,’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Monster’ have faced bans in Gulf countries previously. These bans are often due to various factors, including the portrayal of Islamists as extremists, LGBTQ content, and religious considerations.

About ‘Fighter’:

‘Fighter’ is an aerial action movie directed by Siddharth Anand, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in key roles. The film’s storyline is co-written by Ramon Chibb and Siddharth Anand, with a supporting cast including Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Talat Aziz, Sanjeev Jaiswal, Rishab Sawhney, and Ashutosh Rana.

Jointly produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures, this high-budget aerial action film is set to hit theaters on January 25. It is reported to have been made with a whopping budget of Rs 250 crore.
