MSME Min exploring tech to operate charkha on solar energy

Thane (Maha), Aug 17 (PTI) Union Minister Giriraj Singhtoday said the MSME Ministry is exploring the possibility ofusing solar power for operating charkha. "The efforts of the ministry are on to develop atechnology which will enable operation of charkha with thehelp of solar energy," the Minister of State for Micro, Smalland Medium Enterprises (MSME) said while addressing a meetingat Thane Small Scale Industries Association (TSSIA) here. Singh said in Khadi industries charkha has attainedextreme importance and it is being extensively used. "Even now a lot of yarn is spun with charkha’s help andthe cloth is exported to various countries," the ministersaid. According to Singh, MSMEs have a major contributiontowards country’s economy as they generate more employment inlesser investment. Thane MP Rajan Vichare and MLA Sanjay Kelkar were presenton the occasion. PTI COR NRBABKSRE
