The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has apprehended an American national for allegedly entering India without valid documents. The individual, identified as Jordan Brown from California, was detained near Sonauli while allegedly attempting to cross into Nepal.
According to Additional SP Siddharth of Maharajganj, Brown entered India through the sea route on November 2, 2025, and had been living in Goa since then.
During questioning, Brown told officials that he had travelled to Thailand on a tourist visa, where he lost his passport. He claimed he later reached Sri Lanka by sea before arriving in India through the sea route.
Officials said he was intercepted by the SSB on July 11 while allegedly trying to enter Nepal without authorisation.
Authorities are currently verifying the claims made by the American national. A case has been registered at the Sonauli Police Station under Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act for allegedly entering India without valid documents.
