Authorities in Abu Dhabi have arrested at least 375 individuals of various nationalities for allegedly sharing misleading information on social media related to the ongoing West Asia conflict, police said.
The suspects have been referred to public prosecution for legal action under applicable laws. Officials have not disclosed their nationalities.
In a statement carried by the UAE’s official news agency, police reiterated their commitment to maintaining security and stability across the emirate in coordination with relevant authorities. They stressed that spreading false or unverified information violates laws designed to protect public order.
Despite repeated warnings, authorities said some individuals continued to circulate content that could incite panic or influence public opinion, adding that such actions are punishable offences.
Police urged the public to rely only on verified sources and avoid sharing rumours or unconfirmed reports.
The arrests come amid heightened tensions in the region, following a two-week ceasefire announcement involving the United States and Iran, aimed at paving the way for broader negotiations to end the conflict.
