Amazon said its cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), experienced disruption in its Bahrain region amid drone activity linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict.
An Amazon spokesperson said the disruption occurred due to drone activity in the area, though it remains unclear whether the facility was directly affected or impacted by nearby strikes.
“As this situation evolves … we request those with workloads in the affected regions continue to migrate to other locations,” the company said in a statement.
Amazon said it is assisting customers in shifting workloads to alternative AWS regions while recovery efforts continue. It did not specify the scale of the disruption or provide a timeline for full restoration.
This is the second reported incident affecting AWS operations in the region in the past month, underscoring the impact of geopolitical tensions on digital infrastructure.
AWS, a key revenue driver for Amazon, supports a wide range of global businesses, websites and government services, making such disruptions significant for users worldwide.
