External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will undertake a three-day official visit to Ukraine and Poland from September 3 to 5, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Wednesday.
Jaishankar’s visit to Ukraine comes amid an escalation in hostilities between Kyiv and Moscow.
During his visit, Jaishankar will hold bilateral consultations with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
“The visit will focus on enhancing bilateral relations and also provide an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest,” the MEA said in a statement.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for discussions on bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.
The visit comes as Ukraine’s First Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Sergiy Kyslytsya, held a “substantive meeting” with India’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Anjani Kumar and discussed prospects for India-Ukraine relations, including New Delhi’s role in efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
