New Jersey: The Indian-American community in New Jersey has set a Guinness World Record for the “Largest Flagpole Number” during a special celebration marking India’s 80th Independence Day and the United States’ 250th anniversary.
The record-setting event was organised by the Federation of Indian Associations in partnership with the Consulate General of India in New York, with support from Zoho.
New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dale G. Caldwell, US Congresswoman Analilia Mejia, Consul General Binay Srikant Pradhan and Parsippany Mayor Pulkit Desai were among those who attended the celebration, along with other elected representatives and community members.
The Consulate credited FIA Chairman Ankur Vaidya and FIA President Sreekanth Akkapalli for leading the community effort.
The event highlighted India-US friendship and people-to-people ties. India marked its 80th Independence Day on August 15, while the US celebrated its 250th Independence Day anniversary on July 4.
