While people often might praise you for having a unique name, sometimes a unique name that means something completely different in some other language can make you a subject of mockery amongst not just peers and friends but more than half of the world.
A similar situation or perhaps a little more than expected happened to a 23 year old man from Australia whose name itself invited all sorts of troubles for him.
Can a name land someone in huge trouble? Well yes. The 23 year old Australian citizen’s name is ‘Phuc Dat Bich’, and one cannot possibly imagine what he must have to go through given that his name, if pronounced in English, is a popular irreverent slang phrase.
Though it has become a joke around, but ‘Phuc Dat Bich’ is a very common Vietnamese name, and is actually pronounced as ‘Phoop Dook Bic’.
In fact, his Facebook page has been shut down a couple of times because of his name, and the social media asked him to provide his real name.
The man got so frustrated — and justifiably so — that he resorted to share his personal details and posted a photo of his passport to ensure that ‘Phuc Dat Bich’ was his real name.
“I’ve been accused of using a false and misleading name and I find very offensive. Is it because I’m Asian? Is it?” he posted on his Facebook page earlier this year.
I find it highly irritating the fact that nobody seems to believe me when I say that my full legal name is how you see…
