A lawsuit has been filed against Amazon and MrBeast, currently the most-followed YouTuber in the world with over 316 million subscribers, over an upcoming reality show.
MrBeast was accused of mistreating participants in his $5 million game show. According to reports, contestants faced unfair conditions and sexual harassment while patrticipating in the show. Mr. Beast’s show is considered as the largest live game show globally.
Legal documents submitted in a Los Angeles court on Monday suggest that participants were underpaid, denied adequate meal breaks, and not given proper rest periods. The individuals bringing the case are referred to as Contestants 1-5 in the lawsuit, which has been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Amazon Alternative LLC and MrBeast’s production company, MRB2024 LLC.
The plaintiffs are seeking full payment for the wages owed to them, an injunction to prevent the alleged unfair labor practices, and recognition of the case as a class-action lawsuit.
“Defendant production companies and Amazon shamelessly exploited the labor of… people who served as contestants on the forthcoming $100 million MrBeast-Amazon production ‘Beast Games,’ which Amazon promotes as the world’s largest live game show with the biggest single prize in the history of television,” the suit claims.
MrBeast is among the top YouTubers globally, boasting over 300 million subscribers and producing content that often involves contests and challenges with substantial rewards for those who participate.
