New Jersey: A New Jersey high school senior has sued her parents, accusing them of throwing her out of the family home when she turned 18, and refusing to pay for her private high school and college education. The student’s parents maintain she ran from the home as she didn’t want to live by their rules.
Judge Peter Bogaard noted that Rachel Canning’s behaviour over the past year had been in question — one or two school suspensions, drinking, losing her captaincy on the cheerleading squad and being kicked out of the campus ministry.
Another hearing is set for 22 April, when lawyers will bring in supporting witnesses.
