BRC chief criticises Assam govt for reducing security cover

Date:

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Wednesday accused Assam government for reducing his security cover thereby creating an atmosphere for his “political murder” and sought for its restoration.

“As I am of cabinet rank I should get adequate security,” Mohilary told PTI, criticising the government for reducing his personal security cover and guards at his house since yesterday.

“With the withdrawal of the security personnel, my life is in danger. Assam government is creating an atmosphere for my political murder before the upcoming Assembly elections in the state next year,” the former militant leader-turned politician alleged.

The BTC chief urged the government to restore his security cover.

At the one-day session of the BTC during the day, the issue of reduction in security personnel of the council chief and its deputy chief was discussed and a resolution was unanimously passed, which was supported by its opposition leader Rwngwngwra Narzary.
