Top Ministers honour changemakers at MSME awards

Chamber of Indian Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, an apex MSME chamber organised the fourth edition of MSME Banking Excellence Awards, to recognise the banks who did commendable work in the MSME work space.

The award ceremony was organised on April 20, 2017, at Hotel Imperial, New Delhi.

Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Union Minister for Railways, Arjun Ram Meghwal Minister of State for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Mukesh Mohan Gupta President Chamber of Indian Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Minister of State for Minority Affairs (I/C) & Parliamentary Affairs and Dr. M S Sahoo Chairperson Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India gave away awards to the award winning banks.

Top executives of the banks, financial institutions, RRBs, NBFCs actively participated in the award function.

Mukesh Mohan Gupta, President, Chamber of Indian Micro Small & Medium Enterprises explained the process of awards and also highlighted the various schemes of the government. According to Gupta, “Modi government is a pro-poor government and the various schemes launched by the government mainly benefit the MSME sector”. He also gave certain suggestions for strengthening the banks which were highly appreciated by the ministers present during the award ceremony.

Meghwal said during the ceremony that a new India is being created and “by 2020 India will be a developed country.” Meghwal also highlighted that the year 2017 is known as the “Year of Historical Reforms.” He highlighted that in 2017 the finance budget of railways was combined with the finance budget and was presented on February 01 instead of February 28. He also appreciated the bold step taken by the Prime Minister by deactivating the VVIP culture and providing the ease of accessibility of ministers of the government.

According to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, “Modi Government is committed to make India a manufacturing hub of the world and MSMEs have a crucial role to play in this regard.”

The awards were divided into various categories which included Best MSME Bank, Eco tech Savvy and Financial Inclusive etc.
