Tata Supplies 3092 Safari Storme to Indian Army

Days of the Maruti Gyspsy are long gone. The new customised Safari Storme has been made and supplied to meet the demands of the Indian Army. Several add ups have been done to make it perfect for off-road capabilities and safety with rugged performance and modified suspension.

This Safari Stormes falls under a new category named GS-800 (General Service) 800. These cars have several new features like ‘run flat tyres’ which can let you drive even when the tyres are deflated. Kevlar Carpets are installed to withstand minor blasts.
The cars have been developed under defence ministries special request for proposals. The three basic criteria to be met by Tata was 800 kg minimum payload, hard roofs and air conditioning. The cars were under trial period for 15 months before signing the real deal.

Tata Motors is an old player in the defence market which has supplied over 150000 vehicles to Para-military and military before this. It is also involved in the global market and supplies specialised vehicles to countries in Africa, SAARC and ASEAN and also to the UN peacekeeping missions.
