A fan very aptly said on Facebook, “Moon will shine a little brighter for our Chandni tonight…” Sridevi will always shine brightly for her legions of fans who woke up this morning to the nasty news of her sudden demise at the age of 54.
The story of Sridevi is the story of an underdog in Hindi cinema making it big on talent and personal charisma that clicked with the audiences. It will not be a mistake to say that she was India’s first lady superstar.
Her story is the kind movie legends are made of – the first among Bollywood actresses to have carried movies in her own name, married to a powerful movie mogul, given birth to two beautiful daughters – one of whom will be debuting next month with her much-awaited first film and gone too soon.

Critics,
Never known anyone who was so painfully shy, so quiet off screen, who just transformed into a force of nature when the cameras came on. She was an interviewer’s nightmare, but the movie-buff’s dream. You will be missed, Sridevi. Thank you for the movies.
