DA hike for government employees

Date:

New Delhi: The government on Friday gave a bonanza to its 50 lakh employees and 30 lakh pensioners by raising the DA to 100% from the existing 90%. The new hike would be effective from January 1 this year.

The increase comes ahead of the imposition of the model code of conduct by the Election Commission for Lok Sabha election, due by May. This is the second double digit DA hike in a row. The government had announced a hike of 10% in September last year, which came into effect retrospectively from July 1, 2013.
