Close shave for Musharraf in bomb attack

Date:

Islamabad: A powerful bomb exploded on Faizabad Bridge just after former President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s convoy passed through it on Thursday. Musharraf was being shifted from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to his farmhouse when the huge blast occurred, just missing the retired general.

According to media reports, almost four to six kilograms of explosive material was planted in a pipeline near a footpath. With the police claiming the attack was aimed at Musharraf.

Musharraf has received several death threats since his return to Pakistan for his high treason hearings. Explosives have been recovered from around his farmhouse residence on a number of occasions. The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has also threatened to assassinate the ex-army strongman.
