New Delhi: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) found that 198 juveniles are being wrongly imprisoned in the jails of Delhi meant for adult prisoners.
From March 2012 till now around 2,673 probable juveniles were identified who were languishing in the prisons of the capital and the count is still on. NCPCR forwarded these figures to Delhi High Court (HC) by filing affidavit recently, indicating that same could be the scenario in other states of the nation.
The child right panel also recommended the Delhi government to begin the process of issuing birth certificates, Aadhar Cards and other identity cards to 198 accused identified juveniles.
