Jaitley questions EC’s double standards

Date:

Varanasi: Arun Jaitley on Saturday asked the Election Commission, “How come Rahul was given the permission to hold a roadshow in the same area where Narendra Modi was denied it?” He alleged political motive behind not letting Modi holding a rally in Varanasi.

Modi was not given the permission citing security reasons by the Returning Officer, for the rally in Beniya Bagh, a rural Assembly constituency outside the main city.

Batting for Rahul Gandhi, Ajay Maken said the roadshow was a huge success. Tweeting, he said, “RahulGs Jan Sampark programme in Varanasi a huge success. Like the candidate, the participants are also local residents….”

In what is considered a tit-for-tat for Modi’s rally in Amethi, Rahul has taken to the streets of Varanasi the campaign for his party candidate Ajai Rai. Saturday is the last day of campaigning in the final phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
