Bowled by bold Bolt?

Date:

It is a face off you wouldn’t have expected to encounter. One man who can slam the living daylights of a bowler, charging in like a raging bull, six times over; the other, who runs like a raging bull we were talking about just now. Sounds too good to be true? No, not really.

Yuvraj Singh is an icon. He was the man of the series in the last edition of the World Cup that India won. And that, despite having a golf-ball sized cancerous growth in his lungs. Usain Bolt, on the other hand is an Olympic gold medallist and 100m and 200m world record holder. When the two come together and lock horns, it’ll be an experience all sporting enthusiasts will relishing licking their fingers and smacking their lips.

If Chennai is hot, this duel will make it hotter. Come September 2, the contest orchestrated by sporting bigwigs PUMA. Chennai will be the epicentre of some sizzling hot action, as Yuvraj will take guard against Bolt, the fastest man on earth.

Bolt’s passion for cricket is no secret. In fact, he’d always had a penchant to pursue pace bowling. The very first sport that he fell in love with was cricket. Bolt’s speed indeed suits pace bowling, as even Chris Gayle, in a charity match, fell prey to Bolt’s prowess with the cherry. In fact, Bolt was looking at cricket seriously and the news of his bowling talent spread so far and wide, that Shane Warne got in touch with him to check if he would be interested in playing for the Big Bash League. Bolt even considered the proposal, but nothing ever materialised.

To show off his dual talent, what better opportunity than taking on the tiger in its own den? While Yuvraj is known for his panache in strokeplay, Bolt could strike like lightning and dispel the myths that once stereotyped, there’s no escape.

September 2 could well be a red-letter day for sporting fans!
